The Houston County Government and Houston Healthcare Celebrate Grand Opening of New Public Safety Complex and Medical Office Building in Bonaire
The Houston County Government and Houston Healthcare held a joint ceremony on Friday, September 22 celebrating the completion and opening of two major building projects, a Houston County Public Safety Complex and the Houston Healthcare Medical Office Building – Bonaire. The buildings are located adjacent to each other on Old Highway 96 in Bonaire, Ga., across the street from Bonaire Elementary School.
The Houston County Public Safety Complex, located at 123 Old Highway 96, includes a new Fire Station, an Emergency Medical Services Station, and a Sheriff’s Office. The complex is operational and ready to serve the residents of Houston County.
The Houston Healthcare Medical Office Building – Bonaire, located at 127 Old Highway 96, will soon house two separate medical offices – Houston Physicians for Women and Houston Family Care of Bonaire.
“I’m so excited to recognize the opening of our brand-new Public Safety Complex,” said Dan Perdue, chairman, Houston County Board of Commissioners. “Providing effective and efficient public safety services is a cornerstone of good government. I’m looking forward to the improved response times and the opportunity for increased citizen engagement and service that this facility will offer. The citizens of Houston County are well served when the government cooperates and collaborates within our separate departments and with other community service organizations like Houston Healthcare. The colocation in this facility of fire, sheriff, and EMS services is a win for Houston County.
“Houston Healthcare appreciates the partnerships we have throughout our community, particularly our relationship with the county commissioners, who have helped this project come to fruition,” said Charles Briscoe, president & CEO of Houston Healthcare. “We are pleased to meet the healthcare needs of the growing Bonaire community with a new medical office building that will provide 16 private exam rooms and future Imaging and Laboratory services on site. To have the Public Safety Complex right next door will be a huge benefit for the health and safety of this community, as well.”
The event included a ceremonial hose uncoupling, a fire service tradition similar to a ribbon cutting, signifying the opening of the new Public Safety Complex. The Medical Office Building – Bonaire was celebrated with a traditional ribbon cutting.
Speakers for the event included Chief Chris Stoner, Houston County Fire Department; Dan Perdue, chair, Houston County Commission; Charles Briscoe, president & CEO, Houston Healthcare; Tommy Stalnaker, past chairman, Houston County Commissioners; and Sherriff Cullen Talton, Houston County Sheriff’s Department.
Recognized for their contributions to this project were Travis Griffith, president, Argus Eyed Partners; Jim Daws, president, Sierra Development; Landmark Construction Group; Parrish Construction Group; Azar Walsh Architects; and SP Design Group.
